China!

I'm in China, so that's why I can't update this thing. Well, I can but it requires lots of patience.

The weekend recap

I went to KC over the weekend, it was my uncle's 70th birthday. It was nice to see my cousins, especially since I'm leaving the country in less than 3 months. We came back and remodeling began on our kitchen. It looks nice so far. It's really noisy and dusty which isn't so great for me, but it'll only be a few more days.

On Friday I went to half price books to look for anything Chinese. I met a really nice woman who explained how to break down characters. She had lived there for 6 years and loved it. She was in western China, I'll be in eastern China. But her advice was very helpful since our class didn't cover how to learn characters. I'll have to remember to bring Tang. I love Tang for some odd reason.

It started raining again. I like it.

The weekend recap

Friday April 20th,

Me and Chi finished Julie's photo album and Katya helped too. We gave Julie her cake while we were watching Jumpin. It was funny cause Jiji and Nick couldn't get the cover open and it sounded like stuff was falling out of the fridge but they covered pretty well. Jumpin was okay. They wore so much yellow.

Saturday April 21st,

We went to street painting, got painted and subsequently got cleaned up to go to Crave for Julie's birthday dinner. Before we went to Crave however, Matt and his roomate Craig came over to their place to bring Julie a birthday shot. They were drunk as fuck. It was soo hilarious. When they left, they both took out Jiji and Julie's trash, all 4 bags of it. It was the most entertaining thing ever.

Crave's a cool place, it's a restaurant but then they have this fondue room where you can dip all sorts of crazy items into either chocolate or cheese. Me and Katya split the cheese and the bruschetta. The chocolate fondue was so much better, and I enjoyed the bruschetta. Chi and Rahul had a drink chugging contest. Rahul won with his water and Chi was a pretty close second with her lemonade. Afterwards though, Chi wanted to burp for the longest time and she couldn't do it, so she was feeling pretty uncomfortable. Afterwards, we went to the Lift and then Peggy's near Drake. I saw Sam at the Lift, she was supposed to be at the 10kegger but wasn't. I didn't get to even make an appearance due to Julie's bday festivities. Peggy's was horribly crowded and stuffy. You couldn't move once you were in there. I didn't like that. I enjoy the Lift cause it's smoke free and because its a much less crowded place.

Sunday April 22nd,

I went to Drake for the parade, which they canceled but didn't decide to e-mail people until less than an hour before the parade started. The weather was iffy, however it was sunny out when the parade was supposed to start. This is my last relays at Drake. So, Jiji and I went to Fleur to see Namesake (I really liked that movie), afterwards, we went to Southridge and chilled at Target and Gordmans. Then we met up with Katya, Julie and Rohini at Fleur again for another movie, The Italian. It was also good. I like the Fleur a lot, they play Indian movies and also movies that have a point to them. It seems like the only movies being produced are either gory, scary, or disgusting. The Fleur is a nice change of pace from your typical American commercial entity.

And now for the not so good news: I haven't done my paper due tomorrow due to all the festivities of this weekend, nor have I started my capstone paper which is due next Wednesday. I also didn't turn in my progress reports/videos for dulap. Oh well.

I like hanging out with my friends better than actually being productive.

Can't Stop

Right as I was about to play Ozomatli's Can't Stop, I was watching Jay Leno and their band started playing it as they went to commercial. Oh my gosh, it was so cool!! Of course it was only like 5 seconds, but oh it was great! It's the little things that make me happy.

I'm so late with my paper. It was due yesterday. I just can't concentrate. It's for bioinformatics. Oy.

Post graduation worrying begins now

So, my dad just brought me some mail that came today. It was a glimmer of hope for me. It was about offering health insurance for graduates. This would be absolutely amazing if there aren't any catches. I wonder if I can be on that insurance while I'm in China? I was so worried about this. I still am, can't help but think this is just a cruel tease. I'd like to keep taking my medication so I can breathe and whatnot. What the hell? Why is this the only westernized country that doesn't have nationalized health care? Fuck the socialist connotation, just do it.

Virginia Tech

I can't even fathom what happened at that campus today. I don't think I could ever understand what would make someone want to hurt so many people. We even got an e-mail from our school president about it.

Friday night

I got all dolled up for ISA formal. I wore Julie's dress, Sara's shoes, Jiji's choker necklace and bracelet and my own earings and I finally got to wear my pink barrette thing that I bought at the indoor art festival. It was at the Marriott hotel. We had good food. My plate was chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans and carrots and then an okay dessert, a mouse layered chocolate cake.

We had a drunk couple join us. The girl was really really drunk. She started saying "I love you soooo much. I'm not trying to be that emotional girl...but I love you (sob) sooo much!" Then two seconds later, she began again, "I fucking hate you, you asswad. Don't listen to anything he says, cause he's a fucking asswad! I hate you!" This was in between the gross feeding each other and kissing they were doing while we were all eating. Then she stormed off and security started following her cause she was drunk. We were all laughing our asses off in front of her and she didn't seem to notice. I was kinda freaked out, I thought she was going to chuck something at one of us for laughing at her. It was kinda funny that no one else noticed, cause the ambient music was playing. When they had left, we concluded that they were at the wrong party, there was a kappa gamma party on the floor below us. When we all started dancing, they came back and she began making an idiot out of herself again. I think her boob popped out of her dress at one point and luckily I didn't see this, but all the guys were like facing her and gawking like pervs. Then they left again. They were a fairly entertaining couple.

When we were all dancing, Jon was trying to dance up on Chi and she didn't really know but she kinda looked like she rejected him and then he moved to the side and started like group dancing instead. Aww Chi's funny. She's got her korean man and she don't even know it. Rahul was there and he actually dances so that was fun. Asif was so funny, he was dancing like crazy. He was so cute, he was dressed like an old bollywood star, like Raj Kumar. He was sooo cute!

After the dance we all headed back, Sara and Ashley were still in a going out mood, but by the time they came back, we had already changed and were ready to sleep/go home. It was fun.

beta beta beta

OH yeah, Beta beta beta means son son son in hindi. Chi told me that it also sounds like beda beda beda which means lesbian lesbian lesbian in Vietnamese. Tee hee. Funny.

Thursday/Friday/Saturday

Thursday:
I went to the doctor and got intimately hooked up with 3 needles. Tetanus, TB and blood drawn, all on the left arm. It still hurts. I feel like the hospital should give you orange juice and cookies after taking your blood. I knew the tetanus would hurt for a while but man I'm pretty sure it wasn't this sore last time I had it. Of course I only had one shot last time I had it. I was giddy from the small loss of blood. I think I had a weird reaction to the tetanus. I had a really bad headache later that day and besides the obvious pain and weakness in my arm, at night I woke up several times to find myself drenched in sweat and very headachy. Each time I woke up I went to the bathroom and killed a bunch of baby ants, half expecting to pass out there. It was very surreal. I went to Rohini's dinner, it was uneventful and fairly short. Everyone had other things to do and Rohini was clearly expecting more because afterwards she thought we had something else planned and we definitely didn't, so we played Cranium as I layed on Nick's couch in throbby pain and extreme exhaustion. Matt's such a dipshit, he grabbed my arm in lab and was like "which arm hurts?" raised my left arm and said, "Oh is it this one?" Oh it hurt. Four or five people grabbed my arm that day and I shrieked like a little girl.

Friday:
Still exhausted from the lack of sleep, I trudged onto classes. I kept falling asleep in seminar. Chi felt bad for me. I had to go set up the 10K stuff at Relay for Life. I didn't really have an option for catching up on sleep after class. I did Relay for Life still exhausted, made it till midnight which surprised me and called it a night. Stacey was a trooper and said she would try to stay the entire night. She's so cool. Megan and Rachel came and saw me sleeping on the wall in the back, I couldn't help it. The comedian was crazy, he juggled chainsaws and then did it on a unicycle. The D-squad was off da chain as usual. They're so good. It was fun although exhausting.

Saturday:
Went back to the doctor to have TB test checked, negative of course.

I went to the Beta Beta Beta ceremony. I felt like I was joining a cult, there were lit candles and group chanting.

Afterwards, I went to Joseph uncle's 70th birthday party. It was nice. Divya, Joselyn and Dhanu played the flute, said a speech and sang. They're all soo pretty and talented. Jiji and Liji were Ms. Junior India and runner up but those three are definitely prettier than both of them. And they know Malayalam to boot. Dhanu's so cute, she sang a song acapello in Malayalam. I've been told she also knows Tamil. I feel like it's so rare to find young uns that know their culture like that. I guess it helps that she lived in India for a bit. There were so many little kids running around like crazy, I don't know where they're coming from. Sam also sang. He can sing. I had no idea. The only person who I kinda wished had sung was that older lady, she has a really good, sweet voice, I didn't see her there.

After that, I went to Gross Domestic Product with Katya. Adam was there wearing the small size shirt that I should have had. I wore the ridiculously long knee length medium size shirt. Mind you, he's not small sized, he could adequately have worn the medium. The concert was not bad. I liked General Sherman, Keepers of the Carpet, Poison Control Center was crazy, and I saw Facecage for the first time. Facecage was like Slipknot. They were ok. Me and Katya were handing out tickets and we saw these guys get kicked out, one had blood running down his head and on his shirt. The other guy was screaming "Fuck....blah blah" I suppose alcohol was involved. It looked pretty intense. Security had escorted them out, they also were wearing the blood of the guys involved. I wish I knew what happened. I remember one was yelling, "I'm 150 pounds man!" I have no idea what that means. I also saw Lindsay and talked with her a little bit. She was supposed to go back to Wednesdays at Walgreens, but she hadn't taken the drug test. She asked me if I had quit for good. It was an interesting, eventful day.

Feb. 15th, 2007

Busy day

In the morning for almost 4 hours, I volunteered at this thing at Valley West mall, they had a charity fundraiser thing that I helped set up. Oh yeah, it was building gigantic sandcastles. It was really fun and I got to meet some of the people that work at the heart connection, they seemed a good bunch of people. They're all fairly young about 25 years old, which kinda surprised me, because in previous volunteer outings, I've only met people over the age of 50. Wells fargo gives their employees 2 days a year to volunteer, how crazy is that? A team of professional sandcastle builders from Florida came and there were 3 guys workin on a giant harley davidson motorcycle and the other gal was working on the smaller piles of sand which corporate sponsors donated money to have. It's going to look sweet when its finished tomorrow. I'm probably going to go back so I can see what everyone elses pile o' sand turns out to be. I was late to micro lab 10 minutes cause I didn't want to go/I was playing with the sand. I'm going to be sore tomorrow cause of the shoveling but it was so worth it.

Matt seems to get worried everyday that I come later and later to lab. Man, I don't even care anymore, Hoganson had barely started his 1 and 1/2 hour speech of nothingness, leaving 1/2 hour for us to do our actual lab. Matt was nice enough to clean my side of the table today, yay no pathogenic bacteria for me. He was so annoyed cause he gets stuck with this girl that me and Julie both think like him, he's officially given her the name, retarded girl. Probably because although he has told her off for crowding our sink during lab, she doesn't seem to get it that he doesn't want to be partners with her for anything. And so me, Julie, Matt and that girl are doing some micro lab project together next week. She is annoying to be fair. It was funny, one day, she kept bossing Matt around and he was just taking it, cause he didn't know what else to do and cause Matt's not the confrontational type. I also noticed today that he wouldn't turn his face toward her when she was talking, I almost started laughing. I could tell he was like, "why is retarded girl talking to me?? Do something" Poor Matt.

Went to Spanish, went through our video sample scripts, forgot to do one of my assignments, but Rita's cool, I e-mailed it to her after class. Robby told Rita that his mom and his brother have morals and that's what makes them different. What, don't you have morals Robby? We understood what he meant but it was just funny the way he said that. Jake was talking about a conference he's going to in Minnesota, so he's like oh I can't say this in Spanish...so he tries to come up with the words, and he just says them all with a Spanish accent and of course that's what they are. You wouldn't think "bisexual, homosexual y lesbiana" would be the same in Spanish as in English but I guess so.

I went to the LFL dinner at La Casa. It was fun, I saw Veronica who I haven't seen since anatomy class and Jake and Rita of course. And Priscila, who doesn't seem to understand Brainquest. "Que es el nombre de Cristobal Colon in ingles?" We had one girl who didn't know Spanish, so we had to translate for her. What is Christopher Columbus' name in English? Hehe. Rita's so funny. She says "jo!" which in Spanish sounds normal, but in English "ho" has a different context altogether. We watched the original Ugly Betty, from Colombia. I had pizza and flan. Good times were had by all.

Twas a fun day.

Work

At the end of my shift tonight, I saw Jose and his dad. I was helping drive-thru and like usual Tri was ignoring everyone. I asked him to help the counter since I was already occupied. So he did. I pretended that I didn't really notice him. Him and his friends frighten me quite a bit.

They're all in some gang or something. Maybe like 3 years ago, I saw him and his little gang buddies slashing tires in my parking lot after getting off of work. And I'm pretty sure him and his buddies are the ones that were stealing stuff from employee cars like headlights, hubcaps, stupid things like that. What are the chances that more than one group of people are stealing off of cars in one parking lot? But I know for sure that they're violent too. One's in jail for attempted murder. Last time I saw them, they showed up at my work the next day and they walked by my counter reallly slowly and were pointing me out in what they thought was a discreet way to each other. I got really scared. I thought for sure I was going to get jumped after work or that they would do something to my car.

So Jose was explaining to his dad stuff about diabetic supplies. Lancets, test strips, meters, etc. It made him seem less scary because he was just translating for family, like when I do the exact same thing. It almost seemed like he was taking care of his dad, which was just really weird to see.

Happy Birthday Jiji

After work, I made my way to school where Nick would be driving me and Chi off to Jordan Creek to meet everyone else for Jiji's birthday. I was really wiped out from having been stuck in the drive thru for 5/8 hours, and my voice was goin out and I was starting to cough really bad. Bleh. So that made me tired and goofy/stupid. Anyway, I was in the front seat of Nick's car, when we swung around near the front of their apartment complex to make sure that I had actually locked my doors because I was really tired and forgetful at that time. So Nick made a u-turn and Chi started screaming, then I felt a cold draft of air and was slightly bewildered. I looked off to my right and saw that the car door had flung completely open. I started laughing, "Nick your door's open, I don't know how that happened." Chi doesn't startle easy or anything so that made me laugh so hard. Then I was trying to close the door and Nick kept trying to lock it and it wasn't working, cause the door kept flying open. Good thing I wasn't leaning on the door and that I was buckled up, or I would have been flyyyin. Anyhoo, we were on our way, and heard that we were in for more than an hour wait at On The Border, so we stopped off at a coffee shop nearby so Nick could caffeinate himself. He was tired too, cumulative lack of sleep over a few nights. It was a nice little place, nice huggy chairs. We arrived at the restaurant and encountered the same problem while trying to lock the door, this time we were all outside about to go in. The door just bounced off, like there was no locking mechanism at all, like how a door bounces off a wall. I was laughing again. Chi tried to lock the door, she also had no luck. Finally, got it closed (and locked more importantly) and went inside to meet everyone else up.

We ate. It was damn good. We embarrassed Jiji by having the waitstaff sing a happy birthday ole song to her. Haha, it was great. I missed out on the valley junction trip they had earlier in the morning, stupid work. They all went to this glass bead shop and made these really cool bracelets with clear beads that had colored stripey centers. They also had a giant homemade breakfast courtesy of her roomates.

After the restaurant, we all went back to their apartment, I gave Jiji my gift. Julie, Katya and Rohini did their little thing and busted out a cake and Julie sang happy birthday to me by accident. She was looking at me when she said happy birthday and then said my name instead of Jiji. So then we hung around for a while, then me and Jiji decided it would be a good idea to go outside and play in the snow. No one wanted to go! This was prime time snowfall, when it's all pretty and white and not dirty or heavy yet. We convinced everyone except Chi to go, she was engrossed in tennis on tv.

Snow ball fighting commenced and although the snow wasn't really packing well, we continued. Tried to take down Nick, failed to do so, you'd think 5 girls would maybe have a chance, but no. Jiji was on the ground in the snow more than she was actually standing and Rohini was taken down several times by Nick. Rohini flung me around...a lot, but I wasn't on the ground that much. I just held onto her arm. I think she was trying to throw me down, maybe not. Drunk folk in a nearby complex decided to yell to us to stop playing in the snow and started throwing glass bottles at us. Luckily, they were drunk. We continued and nearly gave an old lady a heart attack, she was watching us from her window, about 3 feet from her porch/patio area. It probably looked like we were trying to beat down Nick, which we kind of were trying, but it wasn't working.

Went back inside, had hot chocolate and played Catchphrase for a loong time. Rohini got a clue where she used me, "Sherly wants to be a sign language...." "Interpreter!!" It absolutely warmed my heart. It was fun. Then I slid and skidded my way home, avoiding those who thought they could drive faster than my slowass, but lost control frequently, like at every traffic light. Yeah I don't really care if I'm driving slow if there's 3 inches of snow freshly fallen and it is still snowing like crazy. Yeah I'd rather not die.

Jan. 18th, 2007

I'm tired (sic) and happy

Yesterday I came home around 6 pm after a 4 hour nap at my friends place. I felt really guilty for having napped after I heard what happened to my brother. He locked himself out of the car, in our garage and therefore had no way to get inside the house until someone else came home, now that should have been me, since I was let out early around 2:15. But, I was really exhausted having been sick since Monday having had only about 3 hours of sleep the night before. I slept and while I slept my poor brother was outside in the cold for about 2 or 3 hours. He eventually walked to a gas station and called my house from his sidekick using relay, hoping my mom or I would pick up the phone and figure out that he was locked out. This is the fourth time he's had a car-related adventure. Thank goodness he had his sidekick otherwise he'd have been really screwed. The previous three involved his car not starting and he didn't have a sidekick then, so he couldn't call anyone and he can't use a regular phone, so he ended up walking home those previous times. Once from downtown, once from the YMCA and the other was from I don't remember where. He's also walked home from school once, which was about 6 or 7 miles. He was worried that he had hypothermia, which is valid, but I don't think he did.

My friend went to Israel over break and almost got engaged to a guy she met there and knew for about 5 days. She plans on going back to Israel to see him? Can't say I'm too fond of her going to a country halfway around the world alone (middle east no less) for a guy she's known for 5 days. It's weird because she's definitely the most indecisive person I've ever met in my life. And she's not really spontaneous either, she plans things out way in advance and then waits till the last minute to execute these plans. So when I heard this, I was really shocked.

I got a postcard from Nick today. It was while he was in Prague. It was really neat. It made my day. He mentioned he saw a Walgreens phone card in his hostel and I have to say that lately they've been really hitting ads and tv a lot. I think they're trying to take over the world. They do have a magazine called "Walgreens World." I don't know why I've never come to this conclusion before. It's so obvious now. I hope they don't try to off me now that I know their plans.

I started adding more art to my website, so that's made me happy. When I look at the site, I can't really find a link between any of the things I've done, nor can I find any particular style I've cultivated. I feel like all artists have a style at least. I feel like an artistic chameleon.

I'm officially going to Florida for spring break with the girls and Rohini's boyfriend, which should be interesting. He may rip out the rest of his hair by the time we come back, spending break with a bunch of chatty girls. I really hope she didn't force him to come because that would be pretty miserable.

My day

I saw Keo today! Yay, finally. We watched half of an Indian movie Swades, couldn't finish it because it was getting late and I figured she needed to put Layla to bed and sleep and all that. Plus she goes back to school tomorrow. And she's still workin full time. She got engaged. So, now the majority of my friends are engaged now. It makes me kinda not want to go to China if I'm going to miss out on a minimum of 4 weddings that I really don't want to miss. Plus who knows who else is going to get engaged?

Layla's a cutie. She's about 18 months old. She can talk a little now, I heard her say mama and da and mamamamama. She's also a bit of an exhibitionist, she kept showing me her belly. She also likes to bounce around like off the couch onto the back of it, which you would think would make her cry, but it doesn't. I guess it doesn't hurt her as much as it sounds like it does. She has one dimple on one cheek which is from her father. She has Keo's eyes. It's so strange that you can pick out exactly what physical traits are from who out of a couple.

Earlier I went to Best Buy to get a cooling pad for my laptop and I was wandering around and I could have sworn I saw this guy that looked just like this guy I knew from high school. I'm pretty sure it wasn't him, but when he walked past the aisle I was in, he definitely stared me down, so now I'm thinking it might have been this guy that used to kinda stalk me at work. The two look very similar. I'm not that worried or anything, but he was super creepy when he came into my work. It took me 4 weeks to get that he was at my work to watch me, not to steal. He would come in every single Sunday and I would be watching him cause okay, he would hang out in my area (at that time, cosmetics) and it seemed like he put his fingers into everything, which was weird. So I would be watching him to make sure he's not stealing stuff cause his behavior was odd and I guess he was watching me because he thought I was watching him because I liked him or something weird like that. I never actually figured out he was "stalking" me, I was told by the front cashier, whose motherly instinct went off like crazy. She was like "honey, he's been watching you this entire time. When you get off work tonight, make sure the manager walks you out to your car, okay, because I did not like how he was looking at you." I took her advice. I had told her to keep an eye on him also to make sure he wasn't stealing, and that last Sunday was when she figured out his real intentions. So, what did I do? I went right up to him, asked him if he needed anything and upon discovering that the guy didn't speak English, I went back to work, and I must have scared him off, cause then he stopped coming to watch me after that. I hope I didn't start anything again with that dude.

Happy new year

I might see Alicia and Stacy today, hopefully. After I get off work I plan on hanging out with them. I can't wait. Maybe we'll go ice skating or go bowling or something. Keo hasn't called me back. I'm hoping she's just out of minutes or she changed her number again. I had lunch with Phokham the other day when she was in town, we ate at Pho Ha Dao. I never had been there, the lemon chicken was ok, I think I should have had the pho even though I just had it the week before. She's still engaged, the ring she had on was pretty. I was surprised cause I don't imagine her picking something as ornate as what she had. She went back to two days after she came up here. She had to work.

Lately I've gotten into Lupe Fiasco, he's so good. He hasn't been rapping for very long either, so I guess he's one of those artists coming up fast. His background is interesting, you don't see many Muslim rappers around.

Some of my friends from school had planned a trip for spring break to go to florida, but this was 4 months ago. I'm kind of tired of waiting for them to make up their minds and I definitely am not buying a ticket until someone else does first, cause I don't want to be out $200 or $300. They also have this thing for waiting until the last minute before deciding anything and then changing their minds afterwards. I'm not really all that excited to go there anyways cause it'll be super crowded and touristy and expensive and I don't really like that. I like road trips better anyway. Wayward road trips are even better.

The waiting list for RIT is apparently very long, I don't know what would be a good way to shorten my waiting time. I'm going to apply for their interpreting program but they only accept like 20 students a year, so naturally the waiting list is very long and chock full of capable students. Before that, I have to get my A.S. in ASL interpreting. I don't know whether I should apply when I'm doing my AS or afterwards when I have it already. I really really liked that school. I liked it a lot better than Gallaudet, although I'd have an easier time getting in there. Or should I just stick with a 2 year degree? I'll sleep on it. Many nights more.

Dec. 26th, 2006

should be sleeping

I'm going to try to get together with Pokie for lunch and maybe Keo if she's not working. If not today then I'll see Keo sometime. Phokham was just driving up today when she got my message. I thought she was already in town, but I guess not. She's engaged too. I'd also like to see Stacy and Alicia sometime soon.

I made eggrolls on Sunday and the oil splashed on my hand an hour before I had to go to work, so it definitely looked like I had some weird rash and there I was handing out pills. Lovely. I tried to cover it up with my sleeve until it calmed down. So it's still there which is dumb. I got lucky that it didn't splash in my eyes. That would have sucked big time. It doesn't hurt which is why I want it to go away now. I still have a big hunk of skin missing near my ankle from a week ago. I had an accident while shaving. It still bleeds when I'm sleeping or standing which is annoying, I'm worried that it's not going to clot properly.

I'm always injuring myself. Why am I clumsy?

Dec. 25th, 2006

Christmas Eve

My parents called my grandmothers and we all talked to them and I guess a lot has happened since we last talked to them (it's been a long while). It was good to hear their voices. It made me happy. I was worried we wouldn't be able to get through to them, cause my dad kept calling and they couldn't hear us, but we could hear them fine.

I keep thinking about how I'm pretty much following in the steps of my older cousin, who also chose biology over whatever she was doing and took Hindi. She also went to China, I have those plans too. I never realized it until my aunt came over and saw the Hindi on my wall (study guide type things) and then I remembered that she went to China, also. Can't say that's such a bad thing.

Dec. 22nd, 2006

Holy cow. Finals are done.

I do dumb things sometimes. Even at 3:31 pm. I hope I get better within an hour so that I can finish shopping for Christmas gifts. Even better, I hope I get better before everyone else gets home. I really need to finish applying to the Chinese program, since one of my people sent their recommendations already. Crap. I'm applying to go to China next year. I don't know Chinese.

One of my friends from high school got engaged recently. I'm happy for her, she deserves it. Everyone's getting engaged. Aside from Stacy, there's like 5 or 6 people from work who are currently engaged. It's strange to be caught in no man's land.

My tongue is really numb and my cheeks. It feels funny. Oh man.

I hope I did alright on my Chinese society class, I was worried that I didn't respond enough during our oral exam. Crap why do I suck at history? Jeez.

I went to a Vietnamese restaurant yesterday with Chi, Katya and Minh. Minh's soooo nice, it's pretty obvious he likes Chi. He said he likes long hair. Me and Katya were pretty obvious about laughing our asses off and staring at Chi's long hair. I hope Chi's not mad. I rollled my own spring roll, it was pretty cool. TNT has really really good pho. I learned more Vietnamese. It was really fun!! I'll be going back there.

I love Hindi and Spanish and Vietnamese and Malayalam and Sign Language. Languages are great. They're so fluid, like people.

I watched "It Started with a Kiss," a Chinese drama with Chi while she did her laundry. I actually recognized that it wasn't Korean, I was so confused because I kept thinking that it was another one of her Korean dramas. Then they said the main girl's name, Xiang Qin, and I was like, "Isn't this supposed to be Korean?" She's like it's Chinese, then I was assuaged. It's really cute so far. I won't see her for like a month, what will I do without Korean or Chinese dramas or little Chi????
